007 Pursuing Excellence in Homeschooling

How do we pursue excellence in homeschooling? Why is it important? How do I model excellence without modeling vanity? As Christians, we pursue excellence for the glory of God. We do this to reflect God's character, honor God with our abilities, become responsible stewards, and to grow personally.

Key points:
  • Excellence is not about perfection or appearance. It's about using your abilities to your God-given potential and striving for moral excellence.
  • Pursue excellence unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24). This means doing your best for God's glory, not for external validation.
  • Excellence is a journey, not a destination. Focus on the process of learning and growth, not just achieving perfection.
Action Steps for Homeschool Parents:
  • Set high expectations and challenge your children. This motivates them to reach their full potential.
  • Grade honestly and provide clear expectations. This helps them understand their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Tailor learning to your child's interests and learning styles. This makes learning more engaging and effective.
  • Integrate Christian principles into all subjects. This helps them connect their faith to all areas of life.
  • Cultivate curiosity and encourage critical thinking. Ask open-ended questions and expose them to diverse ideas.
  • Celebrate achievements, big and small. Positive reinforcement motivates them to keep striving for excellence.
