002 Am I Doing Enough?

Hey homeschool mom! In this episode, I tackle the ever-present question: Am I doing enough? We all ask it, and it can be a real drain on our energy and confidence. I am here to tell you, you’ve got this!

In this episode, I’ll share 4 actionable steps to help you answer this nagging question:
  1. Find your why: Reflect on your reasons for homeschooling. Is it about providing a faith-based education? Tailoring learning to your child’s unique pace and interests? Or maybe you crave more family time and flexibility. Knowing your why will be your guiding light and fuel your homeschooling journey. Whatever your reasons, take time to unearth them. Write them down, post them on your fridge-keep them front and center! Your why is the anchor that will steady you during challenging moments and guide you when making homeschooling decisions.
  2. Set Goals: Once you know your “why,” it’s time to translate it into action. This isn’t about replicating a traditional classroom-focus on  areas where your child can truly blossom. Maybe your kindergartener needs a boost in ready fluency, while your middle schooler is hungry for a deeper dive into science. Develop specific steps to reach those goals, and don’t be afraid to adjust them as needed.  Create specific, achievable goals for each child. This will help you track progress and stay focused.
  3. Collect Data: Our minds can play tricks on us, especially when self-doubt creeps in.  Combat this by becoming a data detective! There are many ways to collect homeschooling data-a simple spreadsheet, a color-coded wall calendar, or even a portfolio filled with your child’s work. Tracking your activities will not only showcase how much you’re accomplishing, but it will also highlight areas for celebration. Seeing your child’s progress documented in black and white is a powerful confidence booster, both for you and your student.
  4. Reach out: Homeschooling doesn’t have to be a solo act! Seek out veteran homeschoolers-they’ve been there, done that, and have wisdom to share. Connect with them at church groups, co-ops, or online forums. These seasoned homeschoolers can offer invaluable tips, tricks, and encouragement specific to your unique situation. They man have even navigated challenges similar to yours and can share practical solutions.

Remember, moms, you're not alone on this journey. By implementing these strategies and embracing the support system around you, you’ll transform the “am I doing enough?” question to a resounding “Yes, I am!” That powerful feeling will empower you to create an incredible homeschooling experience for your children.
